He's not an ass for having sex with a willing stewardess in a lavatory but, rather, for failing to confirm her story that they were merely looking for her lost contact lense in the lavatory. He should have supported the cover story.

Good point ... but maybe it offends Ralph's sensibilities to lie? Having sex with a mentally unstable stewardess who is star-struck--OK. Telling a white lie to protect the woman from losing her job over the stupidity of her actions--unconscionable. At least the man has his standards.
