Comment: You bet there's a dark cloud hanging over Powell. It's call "COMPLICIT" with war crimes.

Comment: I agree with your assertion that the US 2002 invasion of Iraq was illegal and should be prosecuted. Should Powell go to jail for his stupidity in believing the fake neocon-Pentagon intelligence to the effect that Iraq had restarted its nuclear weapons program? Probably not. Last I checked, conspiracy is a specific intent crime and stupidity does not carry sufficient mens rea.

I understand your point Amerikagulag and appreciate it. The issue is, how do we get our collective butts out of this friggin mess? Hillary isn't going to do it. She was raised a Goldwater Republican and is a corporate chick to her bones. The populist garbage is all fluff. I'll take her over McCain but our country will still be in peril. Obama might not do much either but at least there is hope with him. If you remember or have read back to 1960, John Kennedy spouted alot of hard line, anti-Soviet rhetoric during that the campaign but saved us from Armageddon during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Johnson would have launched, no doubt. Obama might pull a Kennedy and actually govern more to the left than his campaign rhetoric. But to do that, Obama needs protection on his right flank. He needs someone whose opinion Joe six-pack will somewhat respect. That is the value Colin Powell brings to the table. The guy has served Republicans his whole life. If he can be turned back from the dark side, his value to Obama would be immeasurable. Powell owes the country big time for fucking up on Iraq. I am capable of forgiving. We should forgive Powell and afford him the opportunity to serve his country in a huge way. Question: will he serve as VP if asked?
