Colin Powell ABC interview
--(9-9-2005)

  • Oh yeah, that was interesting, now if he could just spill the beans...(well i guess in a sly way he did) a tell all book would just be awesome. Afromusing. 9-11-2005.
  • I'm sure another book will come. The guy is in money-making mode now. I only watched part of the Powell interview and my take now is that he is trying to repair his image for history's sake as opposed to making a future run for president. Personally, despite how much I admire his life story of rising from being the son of Jamaican immigrants to the most powerful military leader on the earth, I am hugely disappointed by his performance in the Bush Administration. The only honorable course of action when he found out his UN presentation had been completely false was to resign from office (not belatedly fess up to the error 3 years later). He became a party to all the unnecessary death in Iraq through his silence. JJR. 9-11-2005.
  • Quotes from the Powell interview:

"I'm always a reluctant warrior. And I don't resent the term, I admire the term, but when the president decided that it was not tolerable for this regime to remain in violation of all these U.N. resolutions, I'm right there with him with the use of force. * * * Loyalty is a trait that I value, and yes, I am loyal. And there are some who say, 'Well, you shouldn't have supported it. You should have resigned.' But I'm glad that Saddam Hussein is gone. I'm glad that that regime is gone."
    Link (emphasis added.)

Despite the fact that the UN Resolutions Powell references were secured through his presentation of grossly inaccurate information and that Iraq was NOT in fact violating the resolutions in any event, i.e., Iraq had in fact destroyed its weapons of mass destruction, Powell still says he's "there with the President". The guy condemns himself with his own words.
