Comment: This event points out a hypocrisy and sexism. Spitzer (a man) is ruined for an extramarital affair when the whore (a woman) becomes a millionaires. Something is rotten in the USA.

Comment: I don't begrudge the girl making out like a bandit on this one. Are any of us harmed? I'm not. My problem with the Spitzer situation, interestingly, is being questioned from the political right. Rawstory had a couple of links on the topic this morning. Ben Stein (former Nixon speech writer) gave a strong commentary against the Government hounding Spitzer out of office over prostitution. He feels this was selective enforcement that overturned the will of the people in electing Spitzer. Very good point. Then there is the Robert Novak article hinting that a Republican political operating had foreknowledge of the Spitzer investigation. If a political operative had knowledge of the sting against Spitzer, was it politically motivated? Government law enforcement cannot be used as a political tool to settle scores. If so, our democracy is in deep trouble.

Comment: This has been very confusing to me, on one hand Spitzer was going after corrupt practices and exposing criminal political and immoral economic malfeasance perpetrated at the highest levels of our government. Nobody likes corrupt government and in fact that is the one thing that will destroy America faster then ANYTHING ELSE including economic collapse. check out Eliot Spitzer - Predatory Lenders' Partner in Crime - washingtonpost.com link or link. On the other hand Patrick Byrne has said he believed Spitzer was a tool here "Patrick Byrne on Spitzer & Wall Street" youtube link. Problem is our system has become SO CORRUPT that we don't know who is good and bad and many believe that EVERYONE is corrupt which is the worst thing that can happen. Every society is built on trust and good faith, if that is destroyed our foundation is made of sand.

I think America has forgotten it's purpose, lost it's Moral Compass, and lost it's way. We need to remember how to ask the Right questions, we need to find a new interest in Civics and Government and we need to Always remember that society is built on HUMANITY not wealth or power!

Comment: The viewing of Fox News can be dangerous to one's perception of reality. Of course Fox portrayed Spitzer as evil ... but it turns out he was one of the few actively fighting corruption on Wall Street. The federal government (I'm looking at you SEC and FDIC) completely fell down on the job. Which brings us around to the $1 mill. question: did the federal government intentionally investigate Spitzer with the agenda of removing him from office to protect Wall Street? Those who patronize prostitutes are almost never prosecuted. How exactly did they stumble upon his liaison with Miss Dupre? I'd love to see Congress investigate ... but I won't hold my breath. I lost all faith in our government.
