The Canonization of Tim Russert ... please

Comment: Another talking head daed. Boo Hoo. George Carlin was a loss to all freedom loving Americans.

Comment: I agree. It was a tragedy for his family and friends but good guys die every day. Professionally, he did not have the cynicism he should have as mentioned above. The spectacle of his protracted deification forced down our throats this past week served only to demonstrate the narcissism of the Fourth Estate.

Comment: I have to disagree - the man came from humble roots to a position of prominence in Washington, DC and successfully transitioned a partisan Democratic staffer to a professional journalist. I don't understand why you're basing your opinion of the man's entire career on one issue from 2002.

It sounds like your fight is more with the NY Times.

Comment: You know unless you can produce documents from yourself which prove that you knew for a fact that there were no WMDs; and that you vocally expressed publicly such feelings, you have no ground to stand on.

Comment: On too many occasions, Russert was just another White House shill. Perhaps we'll get someone less biased now.

Comment: I fully agree. Fell down on the job. Asleep at the switch. Lacking a healthy skepticism. Sycophant. A 'loyal boy scout' says it all.

Here's possible redemption for 'im: Those Abrahamic religions are un-American: going with The Great Spirit, you don't have to hate anybody.

Comment: Thanks Stacy. My bad. The quote has been corrected.

Comment: The first quote is actually from Obama (not from George W. Bush said as reported here).

Comment: I agree. The Washington press corp has become the sycophantic mouthpiece of the sitting administration. Let's see, which way IS the wind blowing? Tim Russert was a major cornerstone of the increasingly politics-as-entertainment slide of the press. He may have been a nice man and he certainly died too soon but he was not a reporter or interviewer of a caliber deserving of the constant lionization on MSNBC.com. It is starting feel like a sales job.
