¹ Definition of 'BOOYA!'. I was unable to find a definition for this term on the net so I'll just write my own. "Booya" is an exclamation denoting excitement similar to shouts of "Yes!" or "Oh baby!" which imply that something viewed as positive by the exclaimer has just occured. Here is an example. I'm a life-long Cardinals fan. I see Albert Pujols go yard and exclaim, "BOOYA!" I first heard the term on ESPN Sportscenter by Stuart Scott and it has been further popularized by CNBC's high-voltage, stock analyst Jim Cramer.
Update: Recently watching the 1997 Quentin Tarantino film "Jackie Brown" (staring Pam Greer in the title role), I noticed the Jackie Brown character (an African American woman based in LA) use the term. The development of this script definitely predates Stewart Scott on ESPN. Some on the web maintain that the term "booya" is African American gang slang from LA and derived from the sound a shot gun makes upon discharge. Link (see definition 14). Interesting.
