Generals revolting against Rumsfeld? A normally tight-lipped, "yes sir" Marine General today publicly contradicted Donald Rumsfeld during a Pentagon news conference relative to the duties of US troops if and when they observe prisoner abuse perpetrated by Iraqi forces. Despite a protest from Rumsfeld, Gen. Peter Pace, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, stood firm in his position that US forces must intervene and stop prisoner abuse by Iraqi forces should they observe it. Also, Seymour Hersh of the New Yorker is reporting that the call of Rep. Murtha for a complete pullout from Iraq was made at the urging of top US generals. Link.
