 Wiki character assassination. Lord knows I love the internet: met my wife through it, make my living on it. However, any good tool can be turned to evil. Wikipedia is a cool concept--an open source encyclopedia--that I use almost daily. But let's say someone writes a bogus biography of me on Wikipedia suggesting that I had a hand in both Kennedy assassinations and might be a communist sympathizer. Sound far fetched? It happened to John Seigenthaler Sr. and the wiki slander stayed online for 132 days. Link. Despite hiring a lawyer, Mr. Seigenthaler has been unable to determine the identity of the whack job that pulled the prank. 11-30-2005.
